THE WHY’s A NEWS STORY CAN’T ANSWER

Nothing in life comes with perfection. Little wonder why a man has to cling unto a woman (his better half) to make a complete whole. You can only be good but not perfect hence don’t always expect everything to be pristine. If it were not so, one wouldn’t have to wash and refine an unearthed gold before putting it to use and realizing its beauty.
Ponder on these;
Why wasn’t man given to ultimate power to decide on the atmospheric conditions that suit him when he likes?
Why isn’t the 24 hours in a day sometimes sufficient for man?
Why is there the existence of social stratification of classes in every society?
Why is man subjected to assiduously working to make ends meet?
Why are there words like; disappointment, failure, loss, depression, etc.?
Why do the two major climatic conditions (sunshine and rain) scold us at all times even when we’ve done no wrong?
Why do we often times lose the most dear things or persons to us when we least expect?
Why are there intricacies in life and living?
Why are we prophets of the word; ‘Good people don’t last but bad people do’?
Why is there the existence of life and death?
Why do we have guardians, instructors and teachers to give us tutelages?
Why are we strongly instructed not to trust anyone (even including yourselves at times)?
Why do we change our friends?
Why do we doubt the occurrence and existence of certain things?
Why do people hurt our feelings (even the very dear ones)?
Why are we created to shed tears when the need arises?
Why do we have the sense of feeling pains among the five senses?
Why are we created to cry?
Why do we have to make choices in our daily dealings?
WHY!                                                           WHY!!                                              WHY!!!
The ‘Why’ goes on and on... countless numbers of unanswered questions run through our minds on a daily basis like the blood does in the body system and yet there seems to be no one to proffer viable answers to the.
Man’s infallibility has made him a lifetime slave to life and thus every of the resources pertinent to the achievement of his life goals come with no perfection just like him. Hence, its germane for him never to look down on anyone or anything but rather put them all to judicious use so as to derive his desired satisfaction.

While ASUU Strike Lasted.

In view of the just concluded industrial strike action embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities over an earlier made agreement between the union and the Federal government in 2009 that lasted for about 60 days, respective parents in the country express their grievances concerning the action which has now become an incessant occurrence in the country. excerpts;

Mrs. Adegbite, a trader.
The strike action isn’t fair at all. For instance, University of Ilorin students are presently in school going on with their academic activities while other schools in the same country don’t have the privilege to do so because of the industrial actions their lecturers have embarked upon. Some of these children gained admission into the university at the same time with their colleagues in Ilorin and private schools but the unending strike actions would cause a delay in the academic career of many of them as they would be impeded from graduating with these colleagues of theirs in due time. This and many other flaws in the academic system of this country have made many parents that are financially buoyant opt for sending their wards to study abroad. The most prominent one nowadays is that of parents sending their children to South Africa due to these same issues at hand.
It’s still quite reasonable if universities embark on strike actions within their confines but that of a persistent nationwide academic halt is absurd. They keep on demanding for various things that are sometimes rather un-called for. The lecturers and ASUU should at least also try to be considerate with their demands. I think it is too outrageous to include practice elongation in their arrays of requests. They should think of those coming behind them. What legacies do they intend to leave after they must have garnered all the years and experiences to themselves alone? After all they don’t intend to keep lecturing after they have gone to their graves and more so, it’s not a monarchical system.
ASUU should try to put the interests of parents as well as students at heart whenever they plan to embark on a boycott because majority of these affected parents look up to their wards graduating from school and assisting in the welfare of the family which cannot be done if things go on this way.
The strike would only contribute to the moral decadence level in the society if it persists because many children would be lured into illicit acts through idleness.
However, the government is also a partaker of the blames. They should try to fast-track their decision making processes and make academic situations return to status-quo.

Mrs. Banjo, a baby tender.
I am not pleased with this action at all. I want them to resume in time because we all are tired of the perpetual strike actions. We spend a lot of money when children stay out of school. Our prayer is that they graduate from school on time and relief us of the stress of fending for them and this cannot be achieved if actions that put an abrupt stop to academic calendars linger.
I think the government should give ASUU what they want and let peace reign.

Mr. Bankole, a businessman.
Actually, it’s affecting everybody including the whole nation. Presently, children ought to be in school developing themselves but they are at home, roaming the streets and it is said that; an idle hand is the devil’s workshop so; this will increase atrocities in the society.
My suggestion is that the government and the union should reach a compromise. Life is not all about winning. You gain some and lose some but all the same, we still have to remind our government that they need to recognise ASUU and respect them because they are performing their duties as expected of them. After all, we have people in the house of assembly who did not receive any university tutelage earning millions while those who are actually working in the society most especially lecturing which is a very crucial occupation, still living in wants.

The Greatest Alma Matter of Our time.

In view of the recently held 46th convocation ceremony in The University of Lagos some days ago, many of the elated graduands expressed their utmost joy for having finally completed their stay in the ivory tower.

Many appraised the institute and christened it as The best institution of higher learning in the country. They however wished that all other universities in the country can borrow an inkling from the school on how it runs its affairs and thereby imitate their good traits.

Greatness

In every little thing you do, there is either an iota of greatness or great destruction based on the positivity or negativity it has been executed with. Great things mostly come in small packages so, never underrate that kind little gesture you did sometime ago.

being positive

The world’s greatest achievers are those who don’t give in to defeat. They put in additional efforts when encountered with a peril order than giving up. One thing to always take note of in life is that trials are intrinsic to living. Life is never fully cosy even with the most buoyant of all so never think that your trials are peculiar to you alone or specially fashioned for you to bring about your downfall.

Okay let’s take a look at it this way, while in secondary school, your biology teacher teaches you about reproduction and how millions of spermatozoa on a sprint race are released into the reproductory body organs of a woman. Out of them all, only one that arrives first at their destination would pierce the ovary and have its way in. now can you just try to figure this out within the closet of your mind, it simply means that you emerged first out of millions of spermatozoa that were involved in your conception race. So, aren’t you lucky indeed?

Now relating it to reality, have you ever thought the basic importance of having to hear the clarion cry of a newly born child before accepting the normality of that child? What if the child doesn’t cry, what would be done to him or her? That is just the simplest symbolism of life’s intricacies. There is no gain without a pain. The only difference in it all is that the intensity of pains differs as some might experience a more excruciating pain than the other but nonetheless, just as no sin is little, so also, there is no such notion as a little pain as long as it’s felt and is capable of causing an apprehension.

Many at times, we tend to make a big fuss out of our minute problems and get fed up easily without having the slightest inkling of the enormity of the problems being faced by others around us. We tend to be oblivion of the fact that what seems to be the peak of our problems is the least of another’s; what makes us fret most would get others finding solace in them; what puts our hearts in a disarray, would get others exhilarating. So, stop making a mountain out of your tiny mole hill. You can easily get rid of a mole hill but as for a mountain, it’s impossible to break or overcome it.

Ruminate over this and change that biased notion of yours towards life. Remember, the secret is optimism and perseverance.

God bless.

food for thought

The best of things are always gotten form filth. Imagine if you didn't have to mine before extracting crude oil or discovering gold, if Jesus had been born in a royal family, if Ben Carson had grown with a silver spoon, if you didn't need to till the ground before getting most food crops, if you didn't have to go through the rigors of cleaning the blood blemishes of a slaughtered chicken before eaten it and if you didn't have to putrefy manure to aid a bountiful harvest of crops.

Now the message is, no matter your present status, situation or condition, keep being optimistic about a greater future because the best and most captivating success stories are the pathetic ones.

Ex-envoy tasks politicians on selfless service

 Victoria Campbell

Former Nigerian ambassador to the United Kingdom and Pro-Chancellor, Pan African University, Lagos, Dr. Christopher Kolade, has attributed the ill and devastating state of the nation to the misplacement of duty and nonchalance to work exhibited by political office holders.

He stated this in Lagos at the District Education and Welfare Endowment Fund (DEWEF) organized by Rotary International held in December where he was the guest speaker at the forum.

Christopher Kolade, an industrialist also suggested that integration and being proactive are essential in paving a way for the desired change in the country, noting that the youths are viable tools in making this reformation a reality.

“My suggestion is that we need to turn our attention to the young people in our nation before we lose them”, he said.

According to him, politics is a call to service to humanity and the nation at large which requires a selfless sacrifice, in contrast with what is obtainable as the existing status quo in the country.

In the same vein, the representative of Ogun State governor and the commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Mr. Abimbola Ashiru, testified to the importance of diligence to work as he attested to the fact that the extant government of his state is walking in that light.

Earlier in the day, the chairman of the occasion, a business icon and the founder of Diamond Bank plc, Dr. Pascal Dozie, while delivering his opening speech explained that DEWEF is a societal assistance initiative established for the purpose of rendering the services of Education, Health, poverty alleviation and other assistance pertinent to the welfare of the people. He further urged everyone present to support the scheme so as to be part of the reformatory process in the state and the country at large.

Dignitaries present at the event were; The Oba of Lagos, Oba Riliwan Akiolu; the former Deputy governor of Lagos state, Princess Sarah Adebisi Sosan; the former Minister of Health and Social Services, Prince Julius Adelusi-Adeluyi, among others.
